Yadgir’s history is intertwined with the Yadava Dynasty, whose rule gave the town its name, “Yadagiri.” Later, it was governed by the Adil Shahis and subsequently by the Asifya rulers of Hyderabad. The magnificent stone fort surrounding Yadgir dates back to the Adil Shahi period, adding to the town’s historical charm.
The new District and Sessions Court consisting of three talukas was established on 30 December 2009 after it was carved out of Gulbarga district. The inauguration of the new District and Sessions Court at Yadgir began on 8 March 2010.
The current premises of the Yadgir District & Sessions Court are temporarily housed in an existing building. Plans for a new District Court complex, situated near the DC office on Chitapur Road, have been proposed. Recommendations for acquiring the necessary land for this new complex are underway.
